Bremerton Symphony Chorale
Under musical direction of Ms. LeeAnne Campos, Bremerton Symphony Chorale has a rich history that is over 50 years strong. Formerly known as Bremerton Symphony Concert Chorale, hundreds of local singers have participated in some of the region’s finest musical performances in collaboration with Bremerton Symphony Orchestra. Highlights include the magnificence of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, the Choral Symphony; Carl Orff’s extraordinary Carmina Burana; the introspective excellence of Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor, and, to thank patrons who support the efforts of the Bremerton Symphony Association, the Chorale and Symphony regularly offer Handel’s Messiah to which the community responds with great delight. In addition to the concerts with the Symphony, the Chorale biennially performs stand-alone concerts featuring the exceptional talents of the singers. These popular concerts highlight repertoire that includes sacred, secular, musical theatre, Celtic, and more.
About the Music Director
LeeAnne Campos began her musical career at the age of seven in Munich, Germany, and has performed on some of the world’s finest concert stages. An apprenticeship with the Chicago Lyric Opera Center for American Artists took her to Chicago in 1983, and while there she was an active participant in the Chicago opera community, performing leading roles with the Chamber Opera of Chicago and Light Opera Works with Philip Kraus. She was a member of both the Chicago Lyric Opera Chorus and the Chicago Symphony Chorus under the direction of Margaret Hillis, and a recipient of the Margaret Hillis Fellowship.
Shortly after her return to the Pacific Northwest she made her debut with Tacoma Opera, and has since served as guest soloist with Tacoma Symphony Orchestra, Tacoma Symphony Chorus, Bremerton Symphony Orchestra, Okanogan Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Lutheran University Orchestra, and Bellevue Chamber Chorus. Equally comfortable with musical theater, one of her many roles includes that of the Mother Abbess in Tacoma Little Theatre’s 1998 production of The Sound of Music. In September 2004 she accepted the position of Concert Chorale Director with Bremerton Symphony. She currently sings with Tacoma Symphony Chorus under the direction of Dr. Geoffrey Boers. She is a 1981 graduate of Pacific Lutheran University and is a former member of the highly regarded Choir of the West under Dr. Maurice Skones. She has been a member of the voice faculty at Pacific Lutheran University since 1992, and is active as an adjudicator for regional and state vocal competitions throughout the Northwest.
